Quick Introduction.

Welcome to the endless abyss of challenges also known as second semester of Final Year!

You know you're off to a scary start when there's work before the work even begins, Week 0 Project Proposal Forms are due. Meaning you better have the clearest of understanding of your final year project before you even attempt to propose it.

This wasn't an issue for me as I've known what my final year project was going to be for the last two years, or at least i thought i did. Plan of action was to finish university with a clear brand and project to follow through, preferably a community based one, Which is where ESSEN came in, for more information on what the ESSEN project is please see my DES518 Dissertation or formally known as a Design Report.
This acted as a stepping stone into the field i wish to pursue after graduation, including branding, research, product design and business set up. The final deliverables would insure i had a level of self employment to continue after graduation.

What changed? Answer: An opportunity,

Please don't get me wrong, i fully intend on continuing forward with the ESSEN project, just four months later than i had originally anticipated. Instead of beginning summer workshops within the project i will have the summer to gain contacts within the local schools and begin school based workshops in the new school year.

Leaving me free to work on the great opportunity that is the NHS Maternity Pack ReDesign for my final major project.

I will fully explain both the Redesign and my process within this reflective blog, so fair warning if thats not what you're here to read, now is your chance to head back to google and find what you're looking for. For those of you still here, let's continue. Northern Ireland unlike other UK countries has very little in terms of patient engagement during Antenatal stages.

Without naming names (until i've confirmed i'm even allowed to name names online) The department in charge of improving these NHS services has created this opportunity for me to Design a product (exterior case/packaging) for the well known 'Green Notes'.

This will solve several informative and healthcare issues i'll later discuss, which have all been addressed in present Antenatal Healthcare, but It will also benefit me as a student and as a future employment candidate.

By the end of this project i intend to have a well known client added to my CV and a polished piece of graphic design and illustration to add to my portfolio.

So a warm welcome readers to my Final Year Design, Not for the weak of heart, temperament or will.
LETS GET STARTED !!!!

On a side note after i've began posting, I've just realised after 4 years and many blog requirements this will be my last under-graduate blog requirement, my account won't know what hit it..... bit bittersweet but let's try go out with a bang !
