Design Direction
HUZZA
At last a design direction.... sort of.
Does it count as a direction if they choose three designs but all relatively similar or can be experimented with ?
I was quite pleased the clients chose my own personal favourites.
To stay professional i didn't over whelm them but i had initial prints of the concepts and then further prints for layout and colour schemes, all could be mixed and matched.
For organisational purposes i made a cheat sheet (shown above) and used it to summarise the entire meeting so i could easily debrief once home and begin define and development work.
Although id love another client meeting before this project is due in i can't see it happening within the next three weeks. yes, three week ! BreatheBreatheBreathe
I think the clients were quite eager and even surprised at the amount of work presented during the meeting which to be perfectly honest stopped me in my tracks. I had prepared myself for them to say the work wasn't what we had discussed (artistic tastes can vary so much) or that they feel enough hasn't been done since the last meeting and they just don't feel the project should continue.
But they didn't
This sounds so positive i know but because i wasn't prepared for it i feel i didn't speak as much as i should so i probably hurt my chances of future work with these particular clients which if you all can remember that was one of the benefits of taking on this project initially.
I feel a personal strength is i am a relatively understanding and helpful person, i communicate well with the vast majority of clients and people regardless of age background etc, So this is a shock for me personally that i was so quiet and distant through this meeting and it is something i need to work on before the next meeting if i want to build that client communication back up again.
Once i had confirmed they were happy with particular styles layouts and colour schemes and that i will periodically bombard their inbox for the next couple of weeks to avoid continuing this project on a fictional basis and that all i expect is short yes no lighter darker type answers and they were reassured it wasn't formal correspondence we discussed the product options.
Although id have liked to already presented the wire frames on 3D models to the clients i still intend on creating them and discussed if they'd be of use to the clients in terms of them presenting it for tender/ funding. The clients felt that was too much work for me, but i feel it will only help my final project and the likelihood of the maternity pack being fully funded in future.
We paper prototyped briefly with the prints, sketchbook and my current favourite post-it notes and left on a very optimistic note. They look forward to see more fleshed out designs and i'm just feeling so productive and ready to get down to business at last !
